Investments

We provide independent investment advice to help you grow, protect and, when required, access your wealth over the long term. Our role is to make sure your investments are built around your objectives, appropriately diversified, tax-efficient, and reviewed regularly so they remain suitable.

Investment advice

We provide independent advice on investments held personally, through pensions or on behalf of trusts. This may involve investing new capital, reviewing existing arrangements, or simplifying several investments together into a single, easy to manage strategy.

Our recommendations consider the purpose of the investment, how long it is likely to be held, any income or access requirements, taxation, charges and how it fits alongside your other financial arrangements.

Your objectives

We provide independent advice on investments held personally, through pensions or on behalf of trusts. This may involve investing new capital, reviewing existing arrangements, or simplifying several investments together into a single, easy to manage strategy.

Our recommendations consider the purpose of the investment, how long it is likely to be held, any income or access requirements, taxation, charges and how it fits alongside your other financial arrangements.

Risk and capacity for loss

Investment risk is not simply a question of how comfortable you feel when markets fall. We also consider your investment timescale, financial circumstances, need for access and whether a loss would materially affect your future plans.

We use five risk profiles, ranging from Cautious to Adventurous. We explain the potential gains and losses associated with each level and recommend an approach that reflects both your attitude to risk and your capacity for loss.

Portfolio construction and tax efficiency

We construct diversified portfolios across different asset classes, geographical regions and investment managers. This reduces reliance on any single market or investment and allows the overall portfolio to be aligned with the agreed level of risk.

We also consider how the investments should be held. Depending on your circumstances, this may involve ISAs, pensions, general investment accounts, investment bonds or trusts. The aim is to use appropriate tax allowances and structures without compromising access or flexibility.

Reviews and monitoring

An investment strategy should not be changed in response to every market movement, but it should be reviewed regularly. Our ongoing reviews consider performance, risk, asset allocation, charges, income requirements and any changes in your circumstances.

Where appropriate, we rebalance portfolios or recommend changes to keep the investments aligned with their original purpose. Any proposed changes, including their costs and potential benefits, are explained before action is taken.

Understanding the risks

Financial products can provide valuable benefits, but they also involve risks. We explain the risks relevant to any recommendation before you decide whether to proceed. The following general points apply to the services described our website.

  • Investments: All investments carry an element of risk and investment returns are not guaranteed. Values can fall as well as rise, and you may get back less than you invest.
  • Pensions: Pensions are long-term investments. The fund value may fluctuate and can go down. The income available when you take benefits will depend on factors including the fund value, interest rates and legislation at that time.
  • Protection: A protection plan has no cash-in value and will cease at the end of the term. Cover will lapse if premiums are not maintained and will normally end when the policy term expires.
  • Estate Planning: Estate planning is not regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority.
